which statement best compares an explanatory essay and an argumentative essay

Post by Homering »

An explanatory essay and an argumentative essay serve different purposes and have unique characteristics.

An explanatory essay aims to inform the reader about a topic, provide background information, and explain a complex subject in a straightforward manner. It focuses on presenting facts, definitions, and details to help the reader understand the topic better. The primary goal of an explanatory essay is to clarify and shed light on a subject without persuading the reader to take a specific stance or action.

On the other hand, an argumentative essay is designed to persuade the reader to adopt the writer's point of view on a particular issue or topic. In an argumentative essay, the writer presents a claim or thesis statement and provides evidence, logical reasoning, and counterarguments to support their position. The writer's goal is to convince the reader of the validity of their argument and persuade them to agree with their perspective.

In summary, while an explanatory essay focuses on explaining a topic in a neutral and informative way, an argumentative essay aims to persuade the reader to accept the writer's viewpoint through logical reasoning and evidence. Both types of essays require clear organization, strong supporting evidence, and a cohesive argument, but their primary objectives and approaches differ significantly.

I am tired of students constantly looking for shortcuts and not putting in the effort to learn and understand the material on their own. Academic integrity is crucial for maintaining the integrity of our educational system and it is time for students to take responsibility for their own learning. Cheating, plagiarism, and other forms of academic dishonesty are not acceptable and will not be tolerated in my class. Students need to understand the importance of honesty and integrity in academics and I will not hesitate to take action against any student who fails to uphold these standards. It's time for students to start taking their education seriously and to do their own work.
